What Internet was meant to be used for
Perfext.com project is a global network of computers, which work synchronically to process vast amounts of data. In short the idea is to apply the concept used by "seti@home" to other areas of research requiring processing of huge amounts of data, such as human genome research. The "seti@home" is a project that employs more than half a million computers around the word over the Internet, which their owners have volunteered for the project. It involves downloading a program which when the computer is not at use will process a chunk of data that has been assigned to it through the Internet. This creates a computing power which no single super computer can come close to. Although overly simplified the following statement will help get the point across:
A Network of 500,000 computers can in one hour, process data that would take an average computer 500,000 hours (about 57 years). Our company employs a similar network over the Internet and sells the resulting computing power to companies interested in using its service. However unlike the "seti@home" we will pay a percentage of our revenue to the volunteer computers' owners on the per number of chunks of data processed, basis.
